3 Products That Will Make Your Skin Glow

I have always suffered from acne most of my life, where it is hereditary. After taking birth control, my skin was worse than it ever had been. After making the decision not to be on birth control anymore due to the terrible symptoms of gaining water weight, mood swings, and major depression.

I decided I didn’t like the way the birth control was making me feel, so I decided to get off of it for good! Right after I stopped, my face broke out in big knots, which lead to many dark blemishes on my face. I struggled with low-esteem and confidence to the point that I was embarrassed for anyone to look me in the eye because I was embarrassed about my skin. I wanted to hide behind a big sheet. I walked around for years not having the courage to look at myself in the mirror, and if I did I would squint my eyes.

I have sensitive and combination skin, where my skin is both dry and oily. This leaves me with fewer products to work with. It took me a while to figure out what products were right for me.  It took me a while to figure out what products nurtured my skin. I have talked about my struggles with acne in my past blog posts, but I would like to share with you the three products that have saved my self-esteem and my skin. I am now acne free and blemishes free. Good skin care involves a gentle wash, toner, and good moisturizer that nurtures the skin.

1. Aloe Vera Gel (Wash)

Aloe Vera does everything good, positive, and powerful for my skin. There is no fragrance. There is no alcohol, which dries out my skin. It’s gentle and it will give you a nice skin glow.
I use warm water and organic Aloe Vera gel. I use a product called Lily of the Dessert, but I recently found out that it a dietary supplement. Lol I will continue to use because it works for me. It works as a skin wash and it has helped clear my skin up a lot.

It helps heal your skin from the dust and constant residue that I experienced from our environment. Aloe Vera helps to heal burns, dry skin conditions such as psoriasis, heals cold sores, frostbite, itchy or inflamed skin. Aloe Vera has vitamins A, C, and E plus vitamin B12, folic acid, and choline, which helps the skin glow and increase healthy skin cell production (Dr. Axe).

2. Rosewater (Toner)

Rosewater can be used as a toner. Rosewater is filled many antioxidants I usually wash my face first then apply the rosewater to my skin. Rosewater is also gentle, which add more moisture to the skin. It helps to even out your skin tone and tightens up your pores. This is important because most of the toners I have used in the past have made my skin red, inflamed, and dried out.

Even though it moisturizes the skin, it also helps to cleanse your pores. This is a helping aid in preventing acne, which helps to control the excess oil that I tend to get throughout the day. Are you struggling with puffy eyes due to stress and allergies? Rosewater will definitely do the trick to help bring the puffiness down.
My focus is to use as many natural products as I can. So I aim to use rosewater product such as Legacy For Life Heritage store that is pretty much all natural with no fragrance. It is pretty affordable and it works like a charm. It is 100% alcohol-free and 100% pure vegan for those concern about animal testing.
Before my skin was dry, patchy, and tight and tough due to me using the wrong products, but since I have been using rosewater. My skin has a natural glow and I no longer have pimples and dark blemish marks

3. Homemade Shea Butter Body Creme (Moisturizer)

This cream is a miracle worker. I decided to make my own shea and cocoa butter body cream about two years ago bc I was tired of my skin being dry after I would use lotion. Sometimes lotions that are meant to deep moisturizer tend to be too greasy for my liking. I have skin that is sensitive like a baby. I cannot use everything and everything is not meant for me, which is fine with me. I began researching different natural oils and kinds of butter that will help my skin when I get eczema in the winter.

I wanted to create my own body butter that was moisturizing but not greasy. I wanted my body butter to nurture my skin and not add excess oil too it but balance it out. The products I use to create the body buttercream is 100% Shea butter, 100% cocoa butter bits, 100% vitamin E oil, 100% Black Castor oil, 100% Olive oil, 100% pure almond oil, and 100% virgin coconut oil.  I love it because I can use it on my face, which doesn’t add excess oil and it doesn’t dry out my skin. It works well while using rose water and Aloe Vera gel at the same time

Shea butter treats acne and blemishes, which means no more skin lighten cream for me. Shea butter aids with building back the elasticity in the skin. Shea butter contains fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamin E, F, and A. Cocoa butter is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

Cocoa butter heals and clears the skin along while providing moisture and anti-aging properties. Cocoa butter has fatty acids and antioxidants that protect the skin environmental and external pressures that lead to the skin getting irritated or inflamed.

Vitamin E oil aids in moisturizing the skin wound healing and helps to treat eczema and psoriasis.  Vitamin E oil contains fat-soluble and antioxidants that fight free radicals that prevent skin cancer and early aging.

Almond oil (Healthline) lighten dark circles around your eyes, it can be used as a makeup remover. Almond oil is non-comedogenic, where it will not clog up your pores. This helps balance the body creme helping it to absorb in your skin well without leaving a greasy residue.

Coconut oil kills harm micrograms (Healthline) that exist in skin infections and athlete’s feet. Coconut oil reduces inflammation, treats acne, moisturize and heal the skin.

Black castor oil has omega-9 that helps balance out the skin’s PH. It also helps with fighting fungus. It also helps in treating acne.

Olive Oil contains vitamin A, D, K, and E, and antioxidants properties. It helps to fight bacteria and moisturizes the skin.

When making the shea butter body cream, I combine the kinds of butter and oils together. I boil hot water and place it in a separate bowl from the kinds of butter and oils. Place the covered bowl with the kinds of butter and oils into the bowl with the boiling water.

I let the kinds of butter and oils melt together in a separate bowl of boiling water and stir a bit. Once all of the kinds of butter and oils are mixed together. I whip the butter and oil together by adding more vitamin E oil to soften up the mixture and blend it together with a hand mixer until it whipped and soft.

The amount of oil you want to have in your body creme is up to you. I tend to add enough to balance out the cream. My skin may be different from yours. Creating your body creme maybe a perfect opportunity to use your creativity.

I have shared with you my skincare routine and including the products hoping that you all could possibly benefit from these products. This is coming from a woman who suffered from acne most of her 20’s. Hopefully, with prayer, a changed diet, and adapting to natural products like the ones listed above, you can begin to obtain back the natural glow to your skin. I am now at point where I am loving the skin I am in.  It feels good to be reunited with a new version of myself. Self-love and care is key. I promise.
